NOVEMBER 30, 2010 TUESDAY: King of Baking’s Joo Won likes SNSD

Another celebrity is to be added to the list of SNSD fans! Who is it? Well, he plays Majoon in famous Korean drama King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo. I still only know him as evil, mean Majoon, but he actually has a different (obviously). Korean rookie actor Joo Won revealed recently on KBS 2TV “Entertainment Weekly” that he is intrigued by SNSD.

The reporter asked him, “What girl group comes up first in your eye?” Without any hesitation, Joo Won answered by saying “SNSD.” In addition to that one word, he said, “When I see women, the first thing I see are the eyes. There are so many good looking people that I think ‘Ah, you are around this level.’”

Well, I have to agree because the first thing I notice about guys is their eyes. I think everyone says that, right? After all, he is no different from other guys, except he is extremely tall and attractive (drools).

NOVEMBER 30, 2010 TUESDAY: SNSD introduces new line dance concept in Shibuya

SNSD will be making Japan’s Christmas season shine bright with a new large-scale illumination electric display to be put up in the middle of Shibuya.
According to
SM Entertainment, the illumination will be up on the exterior of Shibuya’s representative fashion building, Shibuya 109, starting from November 30th.
SNSD signed a contract with Shibuya 109 to celebrate this Christmas season for exactly one month, lasting until December 25th.
Representatives of SM Entertainment stated, “In the illumination, the girls are shown with their new and modern ‘line dance’ concept fit for the Christmas season. We are predicting a hot response. SNSD has been attracting attention not only for their choreography, but their fashion as well, and are highly popular amongst Japanese teens and 20s. This illumination will capture the attention of the people walking the streets of Shibuya.

NOVEMBER 30, 2010 TUESDAY: SNSD, collaboration with Shibuya109 Xmas illumination

SNSD and TOKYO-SHIBUYA109 are going to present a collaboration
titled "109 Girls' Generation Xmas".

In this collabo, the nine members of SNSD appear on the front cylinder part of the 109 building. From today, Nov. 30, to Dec. 25, several huge *visuals* of SNSD are going to appear in colorful illumination background.

SNSD members' comments;

We, SNSD (Girls' Generation), appear on the "SHIBUY109"'s cylinder which represents a symbol of Shibuya and girls' fashion.
We are really happy because Shibuya is our favorite town where we often go shopping!

I find some mysterious(?) coincidence in this collabo with "09" (pronounced as "maru kyu" in Japanese), because the number of our members is also nine.
Wishing you a joyful and gorgeous Christmas, we paid a particular care for fashion and filmed along with the "line dance" concept.
Come to see us here!
We wish you a Merry Christmas!

On the episode of "Night Star" that was broadcast on the 29th, SNSD's Jessica expressed her endless adoration for SHINee's Onew.

On the show, the Girls' Generation members were asked about their ideal type. Hyoyeon explained that Onew would be perfect because he had single eyelids, and he worked hard. However, he was missing a sense of humor, which was important. However, Jessica commented that he was okay for her because she herself didn't have a sense of humor and because he was so kindhearted.

She continued, "I've sung a duet with Onew before. I like people who sing well, and Onew has a great voice and he can sing well." The MCs asked them to sing their duet song, and after they were done, MC Shin Dongyup noted that she never took her eyes off of him during the whole song.

GIRLS’ GENERATION XMAS.
It’s going to be a ho(o)t ho(o)t one (well in where I live at least ).

What better to stare at other than our ladies’ perfect figures enlarged on a tall building? Longer legs for the win xD. With their popularity generated over the past years, and in particular ever since Gee came out, their success has crossed beyond the borders of all nations in the world, not to mention their recent achievements in Japan and Korea. SNSD appears… Again! This time right in front of ya

Within a place that contains heavy traffic flow, a HUGE picture of the girls’ has been printed on the Shibuya109 building – a famous fashion shopping centre in the Shibuya region of Tokyo, Japan – dominating over two-thirds of the cylindrical building! Now we’d expect wallets to get lighter as heaps more people are lured into impulse buying once they walk by

A bit hard to see the picture and faces clearly, but here’s the order from top left to bottom right: Sunny, Yul, Tae, Hyo, Sooyoung, Yoona, Sica, Tiffany, and last but not least Seobaby.

NOVEMBER 28, 2010 SUNDAY: [UPDATED] Soshi won Triple Crown for “Hoot”, joined Psy on stage

Soshi sealed their promotion of “Hoot” with an explosive success. It’s sad to know that “Hoot” promotion lasted only about 5 weeks. Nonetheless, within that short period of time, the girls managed to make a big impact to the music industry.
With the win, Soshi have successfully won their 2nd Triple Crown on SBS Inkigayo this year. Right before Kara’s “Jumping” performance, fans were entertained by a splendid performance by Psy, who had 8 extra dancers doing the arrow dance. They are none other than Soshi and it came to a surprise to everyone watching the show. Nonetheless, it was really HOT!
Kara who were also in the Take 7 congratulated SNSD sincerely for the Triple Crown victory. It was such an awesome sight as they hugged and gave a pat on the back to one another.

As usual, the girls thanked their company, family, friends and SONEs for every achievements. The girls once again showed that they felt the ‘void’ left by Tiffany due to her injury. During the winning speech, Jessica said,

We hope that Tiffany who is not on stage with us today would be well soon and be with us again. Fany, get well soon“.

NOVEMBER 28, 2010 SUNDAY: 2010 MAMA is a ‘colorless’ event, Kpop stars focused on Inkigayo

The first music award ceremony of the year, the 2010 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) seems to be a rather ‘colorless’ and meaningless event, with the absence of some of the big stars in the Kpop industry.

Popular groups who have made their names heard throughout Asia such as SNSD, 2AM, Kara, Beast, T-ara, Davichi, Rain, MBLAQ, After School, Son Dambi, 4minute, G.NA, etc will not be attending the 2010 MAMA.

The 2010 MAMA will be held at The Venetian Macau Hotel’s Cotai Arena in Macau at 7.00pm KST on November 28th. Although their names are in the list of nominees, some of these artists will be appearing on music program, SBS Inkigayo instead.

On SBS Inkigayo which will be aired at 3.50pm KST on November 28th, the list of artists and songs in Take 7 are:
- SNSD (Hoot)
- Kara (Jumping)
- Beast (Beautiful)
- 2AM (You Wouldn’t Answer My Calls)
- Psy (Right now)
- Orange Caramel (A-ing ♡)

This week’s Inkigayo will also feature the debut of ‘SM the ballad’ consisting of Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, SHINee’s Jonghyun, Trax’s Jay, and Jino. They’ll be opening their debut stage on Inkigayo with “Miss You”.

NOVEMBER 28, 2010 SUNDAY: SNSD Donate to Help Thai Flood Victims

Following the devastating floods in Thailand that began October 10 and continued into November with the death toll rising high above 100, the Korea-Thailand Communication Centre has announced that a myriad of Korean celebrities have donated goods to help raise money at the Korea Music Festival 2010 which is to be held in Bangkok from November 30 to December 5.
Alongside SNSD who have donated to the cause, these Korean celebrities include Lee Minho, Lee Joonki, Lee Jungjae, Lee Dahae, Ha Jungwoo, Kim SunA, Kim Raewon, Jo Hyunjae, Gong Yu, Kang Hodong, Lee Soogeun, Super Junior, Brown Eyed Girls, TVXQ’s Yunho and Changmin and many others. Directors Pyo Minsoo and Yoon Sukho have also made contributions.

By early November a quarter of the country was under water.

It is good to see celebrities setting a good example and doing their best to help others in need. It reminds me why SNSD are more than just idols; they are role models too.

Through this event, the Ministry of Culture Thailand aims to raise enough to bring aid to 3 million people affected by the floods. Let’s hope that the donations made can be of help, and let’s all keep the victims in our thoughts.

NOVEMBER 27, 2010 SATURDAY: SNSD gave shout-outs to Fany on Music Station

The girls are in Japan again and they appeared on Asahi TV’s “Music Station” aired on November 26th. Performing “Genie” without Tiffany, the girls felt the ‘void’ on the stage and gave shout-outs to Fany who is currently recuperating in Korea due to her knee injury:
Sunny: We miss Tiffany today but we will try our best.
Taeyeon: We really miss Tiffany but eight of us will try our best on stage.
Sooyoung: We miss Tiffany today but I think we performed well. The girls repeated three times “We miss Tiffany!” during Music Station.
-hiros2008@twitter
Jessica did well in singing Fany’s lines. Instead of the usual “DJ, put it back on”, she awesomely changed it to “Music Station, put it back on” to suit the program.
Another point to ponder is Sunny’s hair. Following her recent appearances with short and wavy hair, netizens have been wondering if it was shortened for Japanese activities. Well, she appeared with long golden hair. Hmm…I’ve a bit of thinking to do. Let me know what you think! You can leave your opinions below in the comments.

NOVEMBER 27, 2010 SATURDAY: Why is K-pop absent from this year’s Kohaku?

Via tokyohive:
This year, we’ve seen the largest success rate for K-pop in Japan since the debut of BoA back in 2001, which has caused a renewal of the famed term, “Hallyu/Korean wave”. With BIG BANG,KARA, and Shoujo Jidai/SNSD all shocking fans with their high entries on the Oriconcharts, many believed that any one of these groups – or all of them – would be given an invitation to the famous stage at the end of year music special, Kohaku, which occurs on New Year’s Eve.
To some, receiving an invitation to this stage is one of the highlights of a musical career in Japan. Once you receive an invitation, you instantly gain access to a wide variety of audiences, perhaps even gaining a few more fans. Artists such as Angela Aki and Koda Kumi, who have caught their big breaks with one or several hits, have previously gained an invitation to the show are now a staple on the New Year’s special, and both artists are attending once again for 2010.
So why is it that one of the biggest trends in the Japanese music scene this year, and perhaps well into 2011, is absent from the stage?
According to head director of Kohaku, Keisuke Inoue, although it was discussed, an offer simply wasn’t put out.
It is certain that this year, K-pop has been remarkable on the Japanese music scene. This movement will surely continue into next year, and we will support it and see to it, by all means, that it will reach Kohaku’s stage“.
Last year, one of the major surprises on Kohaku was the performance by Susan Boyle, who was the only foreign act.
Inoue also stated the planning of Kohaku was a careful process, where participants were selected and their music was listened to with a certain frame of mind for the show.
Although the official list’s absence of Korean artists came as a surprise to many, there are speculations that KARA and Shoujo Jidai/SNSD might have debuted too late in the year to make it onto the show, despite their success. To add to that point, many Japanese artists work very hard for several years before getting an offer, so the sudden appearance of these groups might have caused a controversy if they had been offered a place on the show “too easily”.
Are you disappointed with the absence of Korean artists on this year’s Kohaku? Let us know your thoughts!
